Oct 2, 2024Fortinet is making steady progress in its goal to tackle the cybersecurity skills shortage. The global cybersecurity company aims to train one million people by the end of 2026 through its Training Institute programs, and it has already trained over 500,000 individuals.
This initiative addresses a growing need for skilled professionals as cybersecurity threats increase. According to Fortinet’s 2024 Global Cybersecurity Skills Gap Report, 70% of organizations believe that the shortage of skilled professionals heightens security risks. The industry is expected to need 4.8 million professionals to fill the gap.
“Addressing the cyber skills gap is vital to enhancing our society’s collective cyber resiliency and we are committed to developing the current and future cyber workforce through the Fortinet Training Institute,” John Maddison, chief marketing officer at Fortinet, said in a statement.
Fortinet’s training programs target various groups, including IT professionals, students, educators, and underserved communities. With over 700 partners in more than 100 countries, the company offers education through initiatives like the Veterans program and the Academic Partner program. The curriculum is constantly evolving, with new certifications focusing on specific roles like administrator and analyst.
arlier this year, Fortinet pledged to provide its training to 75,000 people in Europe as part of the European Commission’s Cybersecurity Skills Academy Initiative. In India, Fortinet partnered with the All-India Council for Technical Education to offer 100,000 virtual internships in cybersecurity.
Fortinet collaborates with organizations worldwide to host boot camps, expanding access to hands-on training. These programs help ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce, benefiting groups like veterans and women interested in cybersecurity careers.
